Finding a qualified freelance story editor or development executive has become an uphill battle for French production companies. As the industry navigates tighter deadlines, budget constraints, and a boom in hybrid formats, the early creative phases of production are under mounting pressure. That’s exactly where PlotPoint comes in.
This brand-new platform is the brainchild of Jérôme Chouraqui, the founder of Talent Sphere and The Media Faculty, and aims to make it easier for producers to connect with freelance professionals specialized in story and project development.
A Response to a Growing Shortage of Creative Talent
Since launching The Media Faculty in 2008 to provide continuous training for media professionals, Chouraqui has positioned himself as a key advocate for evolving with the industry. With PlotPoint, he expands his mission: delivering practical tools to help studios keep pace with the changing demands of development work.
The concept is simple: PlotPoint allows production companies to search for and recruit freelance professionals suited to the specific needs of a project—whether it’s for a short-term assignment, part-time involvement, or a flexible collaboration. “We want to streamline the entire staffing process in a market that’s increasingly tight,” says Chouraqui.
Built for a Fast-Moving Market
More than a digital Rolodex, PlotPoint is designed as a smart, searchable interface where producers can find literary producers, development execs, creative producers, and story editors available for freelance work. Filters will include areas of expertise, availability, format specialization (fiction, animation, docs…), and more.
The platform will also feature intelligent matching, helping to pair the right talent with the right creative vision—a kind of industry-specific LinkedIn, but purpose-built for the operational realities of production.
Soft Launch Now, Public Launch in September
PlotPoint is currently in a private beta phase, gathering early feedback from selected users on both the producer and talent sides. The official public launch is scheduled for September 17, 2025, during the Festival de la Fiction in La Rochelle, a major industry event for French TV professionals.
Even ahead of its launch, the platform has already sparked interest among producers looking for more efficient, transparent ways to staff their projects. As Jérôme Chouraqui points out, “The best shows start with solid development—but only if you can bring together the right team at the right time.”
