Film Movement Picks Up Dominik Moll’s Dossier 137 for North America
Following the critical success of The Night of the 12th, the French director returns with another morally charged police thriller, now headed to U.S. theaters and digital platforms in 2026.
Film Movement Picks Up Dominik Moll’s Dossier 137 for North America
U.S. distributor Film Movement has secured the North American rights to Dossier 137, the latest psychological crime thriller from acclaimed French director Dominik Moll. The acquisition follows the film’s competition debut at Cannes 2025 and continues the collaboration between Moll and the distributor, who previously handled his 2022 hit The Night of the 12th (La Nuit du 12).
Film Movement plans to release Dossier 137 in U.S. theaters in 2026, followed by availability on digital platforms. In France, the film will open on November 19, 2025, distributed by Haut et Court.
A Moral Maze in Uniform
In Dossier 137, Léa Drucker plays Stéphanie Bertrand, an internal affairs officer at the French police's IGPN (Inspection Générale de la Police Nationale). Assigned to investigate a controversial case involving a young protester left critically injured during a Paris demonstration, Bertrand uncovers no evidence of police misconduct—at first. But the inquiry soon takes a personal turn when she learns the victim is from her own hometown, pushing her deeper into a murky web of institutional responsibility, public trust, and personal reckoning.
A Trusted Creative Duo
"After the success of The Night of the 12th, Dominik Moll returns with a morally complex and suspenseful police procedural that raises urgent questions about justice and accountability," said Michael Rosenberg, president of Film Movement. “We’re thrilled to bring this new work to North American audiences.”
Moll also expressed his enthusiasm for the renewed partnership:
“It’s a real pleasure to work again with Film Movement on this new release. As with La Nuit du 12, my aim was to make a film that’s both entertaining and thought-provoking—one that explores the evolving role of law enforcement in our society.”
Cannes Recognition, Strategic Positioning
With Dossier 137 already enjoying the prestige of a Cannes competition slot, Film Movement’s acquisition highlights the importance of critical momentum and auteur branding in the U.S. arthouse and digital market. The familiarity of Moll’s name—particularly after the international acclaim for The Night of the 12th, which was France’s submission to the 2023 Oscars—positions Dossier 137 for potential awards buzz and strong viewership among audiences hungry for international thrillers with social depth.
