Fanny Herrero to Receive Deadline TV Disruptor Award at Unifrance Rendez-vous in Le Havre
The creator of Call My Agent! honored for redefining French television on the global stage
French screenwriter and showrunner Fanny Herrero will receive the 2025 Deadline TV Disruptor Award on September 3, during the Unifrance Rendez-vous in Le Havre — a key industry event bringing together international buyers and creators of French content.
Now in its second year, the award was established by Deadline in 2024 to recognize creators who challenge and transform the landscape of international television storytelling. Following writer Noé Debré’s inaugural win last year, Herrero becomes the second-ever recipient.
A Career Rooted in Bold Storytelling
Since her beginnings in 2007, Fanny Herrero has become a driving force in French television. She wrote on major series such as Les Bleus (M6), Fais pas ci, fais pas ça (France 2), Odysseus (Arte), Un village français (France 3), and Kaboul Kitchen (Canal+), before moving on to create two original hits of her own.
Her biggest breakthrough came with Call My Agent! (Dix pour cent, France 2/Netflix), a behind-the-scenes comedy about a Paris talent agency that became a global cult sensation. The show was not only a domestic hit but was adapted in over ten countries and won the International Emmy Award for Best Comedy in 2021.
She followed that success with Standing Up (Drôle), a Netflix dramedy about aspiring stand-up comedians in Paris, further establishing her as a singular voice in portraying modern, multicultural France.
From Screen to Ceremony
Beyond her work in television, Herrero also took part in one of France’s most high-profile cultural events: the writing team for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games opening ceremony, alongside celebrated figures such as Leïla Slimani, historian Patrick Boucheron, and director Thomas Jolly.
International Recognition for a Global Voice
Fanny Herrero’s award from Deadline confirms her stature as a trailblazer not just in France, but on the global stage. With her ability to craft witty, human-centric narratives that travel effortlessly across borders, she continues to shape the future of international television — and inspire a new generation of storytellers in the process.
